Kick Back & Relax: Summer Cocktail Recipes

Looking to add a little extra inspiration to your homemade cocktails his summer? Want to uplevel your cocktail game to really wow your guests - and yourself?

Here's a list of our favourite go-to cocktails (kombucha + spirit + garnish) and mocktails (kombucha + garnish, minus the spirit) for the hottest months of the year. These are healthy, hangover-free, and easy to make - so you can whip them up, head outside, and relax!

Sweet Memories

it's a cocktail, it's dessert, it's your fantasies come to life! We love enjoying this sweet, creamy drink with loved ones on  warm summer nights.

- Fernie Alpine Springs' Love Always kombucha
- 2 oz. rhum
- 1 scoop vanilla ice cream (we particularly love the Happy Cow brand!)
- 1 lemon wheel
- A few chopped mint leaves
- 1 tsp. hot chocolate powder (optional)
- 1 tsp. organic cane sugar (optional)

1. Scatter the chocolate powder and sugar on a plate and mix. Rim the edge of a coup glass with a lemon wedge, and dip the rim of the glass into the mixture. 
2. Scoop the ice cream into the glass. 
3. Pour 2 oz. of rum over the ice cream. 
4. Fill glass up with kombucha
5. Garnish with thinly chopped mint leaves, lemon wheel, and (optional) dark chocolate shavings.

This delicious treat is inspired by peaceful summer picnics, surrounded by rolling lavender fields.
Did you know that lavender grows really well in the Kootenays? This plant - which has a wide array of healing, soothing properties - has an incredible scent that always brings us a dose of serenity.
  

- Fernie Alpine Springs' Dreamer kombucha
- 2 oz. gin
- 1 oz. St. Germaine
- a few springs of lavender
- one lime wheel
- 1/2 oz lime juice


1. Add to a shaker the gin, St. Germaine, freshly-squeezed lime juice, and ice. 
2. Shake! (While thinking happy thoughts)
3. Strain over fresh ice in a coupe glass. 
4. Top up with Dreamer kombucha. 
5. Garnish with lavender springs and lime wheel.

The Spicy Smoky

It's like a savoury margarita, without the sweetness! Mezcal - a Mexican spirit made by smoking the agave plant - adds a unique flavour that's perfectly matched by the heat from the jalapeño, This drink is the perfect aperitif to a summer BBQ on a hot evening. 

- Fernie Alpine Springs' Live It Up kombucha
- 2 oz. tequila
- 1 oz. Mezcal
- 1.5 oz Cointreau
- 1.5 oz lime juice
- 2 slices of jalapeño
- 1 lime wheel
- a few mint leaves 

1. Add tequila, mezcal, cointreau, lime juice, and jalapeño into a shaker. 
2. Shake it like you mean it! 
3. Strain the mixture into a coupe glas
4. Garnish with slice or two of jalapeño, the lime wheel, and mint leaves.

Beet It!

Don't be fooled by the sexy appearance of this drink, as she's more than just looks: this is a powerful detoxifier, and works hard for your whole-body health. 

- Fernie Alpine Springs' Love Always kombucha
- 2 oz. vodka
- 1 rosemary sprig
-  1 grapefruit quarter wheel
- 1 grapefruit wedge (optional)
- 1 tsp organic cane sugar (optional)
- 1 lemon wheel

1. Scatter cane sugar on a plate, and rim a Collins glass with the grapefruit wedge before dipping the rim in the sugar. (optional, for a little extra bitter and sweet!)
2. Combine vodka, a new needles of finger-twisted rosemary, and ice in the glass and stir. 
3. Top it up with Love Always kombucha. 
4. Garnish with rosemary sprig, grapefruit quarter-wheel and lemon wheel, and enjoy!

The Southbound Train

This is the perfect cocktail to share around a bonfire with friends on a cool Kootenay evening. The name Southbound Train is inspired by the distant sound of trains that are so common in the mountain towns of the Canadian Rockies. 

- Fernie Alpine Springs' Dreamer kombucha
- 2 oz. gin
- 1 lavender sprig
- 3 inch piece of cucumber (2 thin slices for garnish and the rest for the shaker!)
- 1/2 oz. freshly-squeezed lime juice
- 1 lime wheel

1. In a shaker, add gin, lime juice, cucumber, and ice.
2. Shake it while dancing to your favourite music!
3. Strain into a rocks glass with fresh ice. 
4. Top it off with Dreamer kombucha. 
5. Garnish with lime wheel, cucumber slices, and serve!
